A man who racked up his third impaired driving-related collision after crashing into a ditch was sentenced to jail time in a Bracerbideg courtroom recently.
Barron Stengel, 61, of Bracebridge was in court stemming from an incident that occurred on July 28, 2023.
Court heard that on that day at 10:07 p.m., the Bracebridge OPP received a call about a pick-up truck in the ditch on Hwy 118 East. Witnesses reported a man stumbling to get out of the ditch.
When police arrived the man, Stengel, was unable to stand, court heard, and police smelled alcohol on his breath. He ultimately blew readings of 192 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, more than double the legal limit.
Court heard this is Stengel’s third conviction for impaired driving.
He was sentenced to 30 days in jail to be served on weekends, a two-year driving ban, and one year of probation.

3 strikes = lifetime driving ban is how it should be.
Wait in two years if he gets his license back and then kills someone.
