Wayback Wednesday 25 – Lake of Bays

It’s Wayback Wednesday: Lake of…babes?

Welcome to Wayback Wednesday sponsored by Cavalcade Color Lab! Every week, we’ll be sharing a vintage photo and asking our readers to chime in with anything you can recall about the photo, other related memories, or even a funny caption. Have some vintage photos of your own? Send them to [email protected] and we may share them with our readers!

Scroll down to see last week’s photo.

In this week’s photo: What would have had a camera crew filming this row of swimsuit-clad women in Lake of Bays? Can you guess the occasion and the date?

Last week we shared this photo of Port Sydney beach and wondered if anyone could guess the date. (Photo courtesy of Muskoka Heritage Place, Clarke Collection.)
James Solecki suggested via Facebook: “Well, those are cars and they are not Model Ts or Model As. I am going to guess 1949.”
You’re close, James. This photo is from the 1930s.

It would be lovely if there was an archive somewhere, Sandy. Many of the photos appear on vintage sites and eBay but there doesn’t appear to be a collection of them online.

    That’s a film camera lower-left, so pre-video. Fun title.

“Photo by Thatcher Studio”. They took a lot of photos. Is there an archive of them? Where, and is it public?
