Last week we shared this photo with you:
Many of you knew this was Dice on Ice, and a few shared additional details:
Terri Howell wrote “Oh yes. My parents came up from Toronto every year for the “Dice”. It was held in various locations over the years, Walkers Lake Lodge, Divine Lake Lodge, Pine Lodge…to name a few. I believe it was an annual event for the Toronto based British Empire Motor Club or BEMC, of which my parents were members. I have their old home movies of the events.”
Dave Johns added some additional details about the cars: “We had a Austin Healy Sprite, a MG Midget, and a MG A down on Mary Lake, Port Sydney. These were the days when a lot of small sports cars, that were made in England, were sold in Canada. Locally it was Pioneer Garage owned by Mr. Clark that had the dealership selling B.M.C. cars.”
And Terry Clarke shared these details: “It was March 6, 1957. There are a few frames on this video…re-created by my daughter, Kristin, from my father’s 1957 Super 8mm videos.

WayBack Wednesday’s photo shows Mayor Sid Avery with Chief Bigwin on steps of TownHall, probably 1954/55 or ’56
