Individual located with injuries in Kearney leads to arrest

One person has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident that resulted in injuries in Kearney.

On Friday, February 27, 2026, at approximately 4 p.m., members of the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and Parry Sound District Paramedic Services responded to a report of an individual in medical distress at a residence on Park Road in Kearney. Upon arrival, officers located one person with injuries consistent with a stabbing. The individual was transported by paramedics to hospital for treatment.

As a result of the investigation, Malcom BARLOW, 22 years old, of Kearney, has been charged with the following offences, contrary to the Criminal Code:

  • Attempt to Commit Murder, section 239(1)(b)
  • Aggravated Assault, section 268

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Monday, March 2, 2026.

The Almaguin Highlands Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
