A new eating opportunity will open in Huntsville in a historic building. It looks like the Huntsville Train Station may get a food vendor as early as this month.
Smokin’ Hot BBQ announced on its social media that it is working on it.
“We are now working on our new location, setting up smokers and BBQs, and laying out the outdoor and indoor areas as well. This new location will have it all! BBQ, smokers, indoor and outdoor dining, a gift shop, ice cream, desserts, coffee, and specialty coffees. A log stage will be set up for live music on the patio,” according to the site.
They also announced that there will be a private room for corporate meetings.
“An absolutely gorgeous architectural gem right here in Huntsville, and we are so excited to be a part of it. Huntsville, The Iron Horse, BBQ, and the Old Train Station
Coming May 2024.”
Below are some of the photos Smokin’ Hot BBQ shared of its new location.

Too bad the reporter failed to mention the proprietor’s name.
Best of luck to you you Larry!
We’ll be there for the BBQ to be had anywhere.
It would be really nice if the train and bus stations could be in one and the same building for Huntsville. Instead we have tracks and platform with no train stop at the old station, but you can eat. I suppose not all bad.
How about we build a new station, dual purpose, out just past the Petro Can bulk plant and hook it to the road that runs past Wally mart? Walking distance to food, accommodation and level and bus and train could be easily accommodated here with just maybe one passing siding needed. There could be ample parking provided here too perhaps.
Lets face it if you want to take cars off the road to save your planet and do it by enticing people to use public transit, we are going to have to make that public transit work, and be easy to access and use and so far, we have not done this at all. Every step we have taken for the last 30 years with regard to public transit has been a step backward.
You can have all the festivals and art painted on buildings you like but if people can’t get from town to town easily on our public transportation, year round, this will be pretty meaningless.
It would have to be better than bus customers standing in the weather on the sidewalk with no shelter at all and a non stopping train because there is no station to stop at.
