So where did March go? As we find ourselves in the grip of the ever-shifting typical April rain, snow, and sun mix, we here at HPL have an Authors and Storytellers series to share with the community.

Local author Yvonne Heath kicked off the series with a talk to a captive audience on the follow-up to her companion book. Coming up, HPL is happy to host several additional local talent, including:

Authors Reviewing Authors: Lana Starchuck & Carrie Schiffler on April 21^st.

Lacey DeCaire-McCabe presents her first book Calm(ish) A Workbook For the Anxious Overthinker: Practical Skills for Managing Anxiety Without Losing Yourself on April 23^rd.

A masterclass event on April 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Huntsville Public Library.

Storytellers’ Panel

Stories about how spirituality anchors personal journeys and frames communities – Indigenous, Jewish, Islamic, and Christian.

Join us for an evening of storytelling that explores the personal journeys of four individuals and their connections to spirituality. The event will include a panel discussion with: Elder Christopher Stock, Dr. Khal Salem, Dr. Zion Sasson, and Vanessa Slack.

A few highlights from our catalogue is the movie Deliver Me From Nowhere, a Bruce Springsteen tale about creating his seminal album Nebraska – ‘a wonderful slow-burn of a movie’ says one librarian.

Our new book pick is Art & Sole Book – Contemporary Sneaker Art & Design.  Any Sneaker Head would remember the launch of the book Art & Sole. Created graphic design studio Intercity, Art & Sole explored the art, impact and creative side of limited sneakers.

HPL also awarded the winner of our $500.00 Downtown bucks for ‘Go in the store and find the door’ contest.

And don’t forget our ongoing partnership with the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce for our Community & Business Development series.

Oh, did we also mention HPL and AO have partnered once again to provide an information session on how to beat the bugs this summer? We also continue to provide access to Sean, our local Master Gardener, in our Ask An Expert series.
