Huntsville OPP charge driver found slumped over the wheel in a live traffic lane

A Huntsville driver was in court after passing out in traffic.

Kyle Jones, 41, recently pled guilty in a Bracebridge courtroom to driving while impaired by drugs.

The court heard that on June 3, 2023, at 9:44 am, the OPP received a complaint about a possibly impaired driver at Hwy 60 and King William St. in Huntsville.

Police arrived and found a vehicle stopped in a live lane of traffic with the driver slumped over the wheel. EMS arrived and the window of the vehicle was smashed, at which point the driver regained consciousness.

On the back seat, the OPP found drug paraphernalia and suspected the driver, Jones, was under the influence.

A blood test was conducted and came back positive for fentanyl and methadone.

Jones was sentenced to a $1,500 fine and a one-year driving ban.
