OPP members have been briefed on what is happening in the Middle East and how that is impacting community members. That includes protests that are happening and reports of vandalism/violence throughout the Province, according to OPP Constable Dana Morris.
At this time, Morris noted that Huntsville Detachment has not had any reports of hate crimes related to the conflict in the Middle East.
“The OPP would like the public to know that we take hate/bias-motivated investigations seriously. The OPP will continue to work with community partners to provide supports to those who are victimized by hate/bias-motivated incidents,” she said via email correspondence.
Morris said if someone in the public has experienced or witnessed hate/bias-motivated incidents, report them by calling your local OPP detachment for assistance.

Good to know, Bev. I read an account in the National Post where a leader of the “protest movement” at Concordia University, in Montreal, was shouting “kill all the Jews on campus”. I hope he was arrested and will be jailed and/or deported.

Erin,
Can you give a specific incident where a murderous threat to a Jewish person was not prosecuted? Your statement is very broad. I have read about many incidents in the news where Jewish threats have been prosecuted and rightly so.
Just Google, Jewish threats prosecuted in Canada.
I just read that issuing murderous threats against anyone (or any identifiable group?) is a serious crime, punishable by up to five years in prison throughout Canada. It doesn’t seem to be prosecuted when it comes to threats against the Jewish community. Why not?
