David Bennett, a native of Huntsville has been installed as the Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite of Canada. Scottish Rite is a worldwide Masonic Fraternity with a membership of approximately 12,500 in Canada. Among its activities, it supports research and learning centre’s across the country that provide free tutoring to children with dyslexia.
Dave Bennett grew up in Huntsville and attended high school here. He is an avid sportsman and held a number of executive positions in this community in hockey, fastball and lacrosse. He is a graduate of the Radio/TV Program at Canadore College in North Bay and early in his career worked as an announcer at a local radio station.
Bennett, who currently lives in North Bay, was the co-chair of the 2015 Canadian National Mixed Curling Championships and vice-chair of the 2018 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship.
John Davis, a member of Unity Lodge in Huntsville and currently District Deputy Grand Master for Nipissing-Muskoka, describes Bennett as an exceptional individual who has given much to the communities in which he has lived and to the Masonic Order. “He has achieved a great deal, and Huntsville should be proud that he is one of our own.”

I have known Dave all my life, he has dedicated his life to volunteer service and helping others in Huntsville where he grew up as well as North Bay where he now resides.
