Cayden Hamilton, a skilled student from Huntsville High School (HHS), showcased his technical abilities at the 2026 Skills Ontario Provincial Competition, earning a bronze medal in the demanding Refrigeration and Air Conditioning category.
Held May 4 and 5 at the Toronto Congress Centre, the annual Skills Ontario competition is the largest skilled trades and technology event in Canada. The competition brings together top secondary and post-secondary students from across Ontario to demonstrate their practical knowledge and hands-on expertise under strict time limits and rigorous judging standards.
For Hamilton, the bronze medal reflects countless hours of preparation, technical training, and problem-solving in HVACR systems.
Huntsville High School construction teacher David Lomas said Hamilton’s success is a testament to his dedication, strong work ethic, and ability to perform under pressure while competing against some of the province’s top student tradespeople.
Hamilton’s achievement also adds to the longstanding success of the school’s technology program. His bronze medal marks the 11th podium finish earned by Huntsville High School construction students at the provincial Skills Ontario competition.
As demand for skilled trades workers continues to grow across the province, Huntsville High School’s hands-on learning programs continue to produce highly skilled students ready to pursue careers in the trades.
