The Hoyas Senior Boys basketball team are the champions of the Muskoka Basketball Classic tournament, held Saturday, February 3 in Bracebridge.
Huntsville was on a winning streak and won all three of their games.
The Hoyas met Georgian Bay HS first, taking the win 60 to 54. Bronson Boyko was the top scorer with 20 points.
Next up, they played against Stayner and almost doubled their opponents’ score with a 62-38. Ethan Tye earned 20 points as the top scorer.
In the final game of the tournament, Huntsville was up against Bracebridge Muskoka Lakes Secondary School. It was a very close game and both teams played hard for the win, but the Hoyas beat out the Lakers 50-44 to become the Muskoka Classic champs.
This week, the Muskoka Parry Sound (MPS) playoffs will be held on Thursday, February 15 at BMLSS in Bracebridge. The Hoyas are in second place heading into the finals and will play against Gravenhurst in the semi-finals, with the winner moving on to play the winner of the game between Parry Sound and Bracebridge (who are currently in first place).
