HHS Alpine team wraps up season with a strong showing at GBSSA championships

Huntsville High School’s Alpine ski team traveled to two races in February: the Jean Vanier International GS on February 8 for their fourth race of the season and the Georgian Bay Secondary Schools Association (GBSSA) alpine ski championships on February 15, both at Osler Bluff Ski Club near Collingwood.

At the Jean Vanier International GS, Level 1 female racer Kaitlyn Belfry placed third in individual competition while her teammate Samantha Goldring placed 19^th.

Level 1 male Ethan Murdy place six^{th in individual competition}, followed by teammates Chris Miller in seven^th, Theo Pinckard in 10^th, Alex Dube in 15^th and Sean Sanderson in 16^th. Those results earned the team 23 points to secure a third place finish.

Level 2 females – Addie Howell, Sydney Stevens, Emma Magee and Emily Jason – earned third spot with a team score of 34 points. In individual competition, Addie Howell placed 9^th, Sydney Stevens placed 11^th and Emma Magee placed 14^th.

The Level 2 male team skied to an overall fourth place finish with 49 points, with Matthew Stevens placing seventh in individual competition followed by Jakob Heinz in 20^th, Gage Magee in 22^nd, and Cole Stevens in 26^th.

In individual competition at the Georgian Bay Secondary Schools Association (GBSSA) championships, Level 1 female Kaitlyn Belfry placed 6^th, Zoe Kruusmagi placed 13^th and Samantha Goldring placed 20^th.

In Level 1 male competition, Ethan Murdy placed eigh^th, Theo Pinckard 11^th, Chris Miller 13^th, Cameron Heinz 24^th, Sean Sanderson 25^th, Zack Belfry 35^th and Josh Lawson 42^nd. The Level 1 Male team, comprising Chris Miller, Ethan Murdy, Sean Sanderson, Theo Pinckard and Zack Belfry, earned a fourth place finish.

The Level 2 females had close individual races with Addie Howell in 13^th, Emma Magee in 14^th, Sydney Stevens in 16^th and Emily Jason in 19^{th, earning the team a third place finish with 43 points.}

The Level 2 Male team came away with a second place finish with 33 points thanks to the individual efforts of Matthew Stevens in thi^rd, Jakob Heinz in 12^th, Gage Magee in 18^th and Cole Stevens in 21^st.
