Health Unit issues swimming advisory for Port Sydney Beach

From the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit would like to inform residents and visitors to the Town of Huntsville that testing has indicated that E. coli bacteria levels exceed the recreational water quality guidelines at the Port Sydney Beach and a Swimming Advisory has been posted.

According to the health unit, during a swimming advisory, the beach is posted with warning signs indicating that the most recent water samples showed bacteria in numbers that may increase your risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections or stomach illness. If you choose to swim during a swimming advisory, avoid dunking your head or swallowing the water.

SMDHU and the MECP will continue to monitor the beach, and updates will be shared as they become available.
