Group calling itself Muskoka Canadians for Truth hosts inaugural meeting

On Monday, May 1, 2023, new residents to the area, Perry and Christy Graham, hosted a meeting at the Canada Summit Centre called Muskoka Canadians for Truth.

The meeting lasted for three hours which organizers said was held to bring together like-minded individuals who support the beliefs of a similar national organization by the name of Canadians for Truth.

Danielle McPherson attended the meeting on behalf of Huntsville Doppler but was asked not to quote from the presentation. Instead, she was directed to the website for Canadians for Truth and told to email organizers for further information.

Organizers estimated an attendance of approximately 80 people.

The three-hour meeting was held at the Active Living Centre of the Canada Summit Centre.

    @Robert Blake

My iPad is loaded with plenty of revealing and honest testimonies etc that the “media” refused and continues to refuse to share with the world.
Robert, rather than banter back and forth with our more than obvious differing opinions, how about we meet somewhere or talk privately on the platform of your choice?
I can appreciate that you think we are some sort of radical group, but without a proper discussion, you will never truly know what we know, or what we stand for.
I’m retired, so my schedule is most often wide open.
Let me know what you think Robert.
    I’m in Bracebridge.

    @ Mark Young

I’ve considered what’s being said and even looked into who is saying it.

Once you look at the organization it’s plain to see that this is an astroturfed grassroot group that have big money and a political agenda cloaked as a “common peoples” movement. The only lies are the ones fed to the members and “successes” are illusions.

I’m saddened that ones being deceived and manipulated are by a group that says it is seeking a “truth” that will never be found.

Get out while you still can.

  3. Mark Young says:

I’m glad I waited to read this Doppler article, I was reluctant.
I want to thank all those who commented in a negative way.
It shows us exactly where you’ve been deceived, and by whom.
I’d much rather be a member of a group seeking the truth, and exposing the lies, than standing on the sidelines unwilling to consider that simple question….
    What if they’re right?
If you refuse to research the NCI proceedings.
If you choose to simply argue and dismiss, no matter what is presented.
If you don’t extend the slightest effort to consider both sides to this subject, then you’re simply determined to dismiss something before you’ve even looked into it and actually listened to what’s being said.

  4. I see this group wants to awaken Canadians to the significant influence and harm that is being caused by Globalist entities, Mainstream Media and unqualified Canadian Political Leaders.” What are the qualifications of this group? What education do they have or experience in politics. How do they know Canadian politicians are unqualified. What experience do they have with the mainstream media? What Globalist entities are they referring to? Why did these people move from out West to spread their “Wokeness” here? Are they the same people who came from out west to Ottawa to spread their word? We all saw how that went.

I don’t think the Canadian people need to be “woke” up. All we have to do is look south across the border at the unrest, conspiracy theories and lies. There are no gun laws because a political party is bought by a gun company. We know we are fortunate to have the government and the laws we have.

I agree. Don’t get duped Huntsville

I believe it’s game, set, match to Mr. Blake.

  6. Rob Blake says:

    @Christy Graham
Why are you making it so hard? It’s easy to see from the website-

    Conspiracy –
“We were founded in 2020 when it became evident that media and government were suppressing important information and were being manipulated by foreign unelected organizations such as the WHO, WEF, and the UN.”

    Political –
“Ultimately, our vision is to help awaken Canadians to the significant influence and harm that is being caused by Globalist entities, Mainstream Media and unqualified Canadian Political Leaders.”
(*Your president JOSEPH BOURGAULT did try to run for new leader of the Conservatives)

    Religious –
“We recognize God as our Creator and the creator of natural scientific laws that govern our peaceful and harmonious co-existence here on earth.”

Don’t get duped by charlatans, the Emperor really is wearing clothes.

  7. Christy Graham says:

One more thing… I urge all of you here to check out the National Citizens Inquiry going on right now at: http://www.nationalcitizensinquiry.ca. This is an inquiry conducted by “we the people”/citizens of Canada going across our great country to talk to everyday Canadians of all kinds including also doctors, lawyers, nurses, police etc… to get their testimony about what has been going on in our country and the world. If you really want to find “the truth” and not just give it lip service, then seek it out and see what these everyday Canadians have to say… better yet, join in and give your own testimony.

  8. Christy Graham says:

For anyone who was in the room for the event, including the reporter Danielle MacPherson, they saw that our message was one of unity, hope, peace and love in the hopes that we can make our country better for our children and youth. It’s a shame that Miss Danielle didn’t do what she said she was going to do and interview us but instead made it sound like we were trying to hide something. We were happily awaiting her call to talk with us to get our message out but it never came. Sadly there is a great divide in this country fuelled by some of our leaders and even some of the people here that use name calling and other divisive statements. We are all Canadians and we just want to see Canadians, we the people, come back together to be the great country that we all have known and loved.

  9. Enno Kerckhoff says:

Perry…” thou doth protest too much, methinks”

Assuming the reporter sat through your meeting, she might have conluded that not much more could be gained from a phone interview. She would have checked your website as you suggested…and your links/topics there, say it all.

Thankfully, (hopefully !) there is a majority of unbiased, critical thinkers in Muskoka who will recognize poorly informed, misguided thinking… and will dismiss the efforts of any group promoting a misinformed, alternative version of….”the truth”.

Sadly, the wild west of social media gives these groups and their ideas far more attention than they deserve. It seems that all too many, otherwise intelligent people, can get caught up. The world …and our country… may be in terrible straits, but that shouldn’t cause us to abandon reason !

  10. Robert Blake says:

    @ Perry Graham
    Misrepresentation?
The article simply states an event took place with no details or information on anything discussed.
This media’s comment section offered you the opportunity to clarify.
Instead you offer “MSM don’t tell the truth”.

    What names are wrong?

You should go to your own website and read the “truth” about the group you’re representing.
Wolves in Sheeps’ clothing gathering the lambs.

  11. Perry Graham says:

Classic misrepresentation of the truth by the media, including getting the names wrong. We were offered an interview, said yes, gave our numbers but the call never came. And to others, we are not religious, extremist or anti-vaccination, just people who care about Canada and our fellow Canadians.

  12. David I Gibson says:

Oh oh. Disappointed in the Doppler.

  13. ralph Cliffe says:

They need to put Donald Trump in charge???
Do the Americans not run everything in Canada??

  14. Dale Hajas says:

I’d like to say, “Welcome to Muskoka” but I just can’t.

It’s disturbing when those with a platform – like the founders of their group – get on the misinformation bandwagon and transform themselves into something almost unrecognizable. This is hardcore conspiracy rhetoric – not some aimless opinionizing.

They lost me at allowing a member to call Tucker Carlson “One of the few great and honest people that are on this planet.”

They lost me when Fox News turned to former NHL star Theo Fleury to get insight on Canada’s response to the pandemic. He really needs to puck off.

They lost me when I saw that Jamie Salé fronts the organization with Fleury; her Twitter feed is an endless flow of dubious claims from dubious sources.

We need to be highly skeptical and anyone tells us that they and only they are smart enough to connect the dots. Interestingly, Fleury has said that conspiracy theorists are smarter than average, while research has shown repeatedly that the opposite is true – they tend to be people who know the LEAST about their theory; it’s called the Dunning Kreuger Effect.

The Canadians for Truth organization of quasi-religious extremist conspiracy theorists live in a place where misinformation becomes their community and support group and they infect one another as they move further down the rabbit hole. Conspiracy theories breed like rabbits.

Health Law Professor Timothy Caulfield talks about how Covid was an entry point into conspiracy theories. There’s some interesting research that says that one conspiracy theory is every conspiracy theory. In other words, once you’ve bought into one it’s much easier to buy into all of them.

So…the safest, wisest thing to do is to stick to credible media sources and avoid ‘Canadians for Truth’ like the minor plague that it is…. thus far.

  15. Anthony Clark says:

Quite surprising a municipal facility should host this kind of activity?
    Also that 80 people attend,

  16. BJ BOLTAUZER says:

There are Truths and there are Conspiracy Theories.

  17. Andy Hanna says:

Yet another religious, extremist, antivaccination protest group. We in Saskatchewan are getting better at exporting this kind of stuff to Ontario and elsewhere. Have fun with this one!

  18. Em Erde says:

    And so it begins …

  19. San"dy McLennan says:

Press “asked not to quote from the presentation”. That’s enough truth for me.

  20. Bill Beatty says:

Recently arrived and already have plans for Us…Interesting !
Raises questions when the Press aren’t allowed to report ” THE TRUTH ” !

  21. Paul Grant says:

As long as we have Trudeau as a prime minister there will be no truth in Canada!

  22. Robert Blake says:

What is this? It certainly not a news article. It seems more an extension of the ad they placed on the doppler.
    Quick notes – “Freedom Warriors”
    A “non-profit” group from Saskatchewan.
    Quasi religious and political group.
    Covid conspiracy, anti Covid measures,
anti vax group with JAMIE SALÉ and THEO FLEURY at the helm.
    Stay well away.
