Earlier today, April 17, 2023, in a Bracebridge courtroom a former music teacher at Huntsville High School pleaded not guilty to multiple sex crime charges involving a minor.
Jordan Dean Riley, 58, stood before a judge in a Bracebridge courtroom and pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual exploitation.
The charges came after the Huntsville OPP and Muskoka Crime Unit conducted an investigation into a complaint of a series of sexual assaults alleged to have occurred between 2001-2003 involving a young person.
The proceedings of the trial are under a publication ban.
Riley retired from teaching in 2020 and the Ontario College of Teachers lists his status as Inactive/Non-Practising.
“On December 7, 2021, the member undertook that he will not seek or engage in any employment for which a Certificate of Qualification and Registration is required, until the College disposes of the complaint against him. At the present time, there has been no finding made against the member,” reads a notation on Riley’s file with the College.
The trial continues this week in Bracebridge.
