First meeting with Clarington rivals didn’t end well for Jr C Hawks

Clarington continues to have the Huntsville Hawks’ number in Junior C lacrosse.

Last night the Hawks lost 14-6 at the Jack Bionda arena. The Hawks once again ran into penalty trouble playing 32 minutes short handed.
After Clarington built up a 4-2 lead in the first period, Huntsville came back with three goals and were tied 5-5 in the second. But after that it was all Clarington as they out scored Huntsville 9-1.

Coach Joe O’Halloran said turnovers were costly for the Hawks.

Our specialty teams didn’t play well. Our power play was one for eight. We have to eliminate the small mistakes. We have to do better. We still haven’t played a full sixty minutes.

Coach Joe O’Halloran

O’Halloran said it was one giant step back but hopefully will make it up tonight (Friday May 20) when they play the Barrie Bombers in Barrie.
