Fire destroys Lake of Bays home

 

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department
responded to a report of a structure fire on Paint Lake Rd. in the Township of Lake of Bays around 8:30pm last night.

Crews from Baysville Station 40 with assistance from Algonquin Highlands Fire Department encountered flames through the roof from the fully involved structure.

Firefighters battled heavy fire and frigid temperatures while bringing the blaze under control.

One male occupant managed to escape the blaze and is being treated for injuries sustained. One pet dog did perish in the fire. The building sustained extensive damage with damage estimated to be approximately $400,000.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate the origin, cause, and circumstances.
