Expansion at Hospice Huntsville is complete

Hospice Huntsville has completed an estimated 3,000-square-foot expansion that will aid in its ongoing commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care and grief/bereavement support to individuals and families in Huntsville, Lake of Bays, and Almaguin Highlands.

The new Community Program Expansion allows Hospice Huntsville to extend its programs and  offer additional services beyond its 5-bed hospice residence, Algonquin Grace.

“This expansion represents a significant step forward in our mission to ensure that everyone in our community has access to compassionate, dignified end-of-life care and grief support,” said Rebecca Ellerson, Executive Director of Hospice Huntsville. “On behalf of Hospice Huntsville, I  want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our donors and supporters whose generosity has  helped make this vision a reality.”

The expansion began in the spring of 2024 and has transformed  the beautiful hospice residence. This expansion includes:

• More family spaces, ensuring loved ones can be close and comfortable.

• Dedicated private counselling spaces where individuals and families can receive the support they need to navigate their grief

• A gathering space for adult grief support groups, drop-in grief support, children’s grief support program, volunteer meetings and education, and staff training sessions.

• Beautifully landscaped, fully accessible outdoor space and pathways designed for both wheelchairs and hospice beds, which offer residents and families the serenity and comfort that nature can provide.

These new facilities are not just about physical space; they represent the organization’s commitment to enhancing the quality and reach of its community service programs. Hospice Huntsville can now grow these vital programs and meet the increasing demand for  compassionate end-of-life care and grief support in the community.

“Community has always been at the heart of Hospice Huntsville,” added Ellerson. “This expansion reflects the collective compassion and generosity of our area. Together, we are helping more individuals and families when they need it most.”

Hospice Huntsville continues to rely on community support, donations, and fundraising events to sustain and expand its programs, ensuring that all services are provided at no charge to those in need.

Heartening to see that you have designed it with the ability to see the outdoors. Your work during such a difficult time for so many is very important and appreciated.
