Driver impaired by cocaine and fentanyl crashes into guard rail

An off-duty paramedic helped get an impaired driver off the road, a Bracebridge court heard recently.

Ross Forbes, 50, of Utterson, pled guilty to impaired driving.

Court heard that on April 11, 2022, the OPP were called to a single-vehicle collision on Hwy 141 in Huntsville.

An off-duty paramedic had observed a driver crash into a guard rail before pulling into a parking lot.

Police arrived and found the guard rail damaged as well as a damaged guardrail nearby. They found the driver walking nearby, and the court heard he appeared intoxicated, wandering, and laughing.

Blood samples taken came back positive for fentanyl, methadone, and THC.

Court heard Forbes had a criminal record and he was sentenced to 45 days in jail to be served on weekends.
