Property owners beware. If somebody dumps their garbage on your property you’ll be the one carrying the cost, and responsibility, of cleanup. If you don’t like it, then report it when you see it, according to Derrick Hammond, Huntsville Director of Development Services.
Garbage, especially the illegal dumping of it, ends up costing everyone. It’s unsightly, it’s pollution and when it’s dumped on municipal lands, the cost of cleanup is on the taxpayers’ dime.
“I live beside a District road, if somebody dumped garbage on my property I’m going to clean it up,” said Hammond.”I’m not going to be too happy about it, but if I catch them, I will report them.”
Hammond suggested that others do the same. So if you don’t like getting stuck with other people’s garbage, the next time you see illegal dumping – whether on private or public lands – jot down the date, time and all the particulars and report it to the Town’s bylaw enforcement department. The key is to catch those doing the illegal dumping, said Hammond.
You can fill out this form and fax it to 705-788-5153. You can also call the Town at 705-789-1751 and ask for the bylaw department.

Totally agree, it is very disheartening , the inconsiderate people who travel our roads seem to be increasing!
Immediately after picking up roadside garbage while walking as we often do on Brunel road especially right after the big spring push for everyone ( very few) to do their part, we get to start all over again!
Totally agree with Matts comments except I’d make the fines even higher. I’m sick of people using the roadside as their own personal dump sites. How inconsiderate can this be. No respect at all for their fellow neighbours or for the beautiful nature that surrounds us. People in power lets use some of our taxes dollars and…. get a lot tougher on the offenders with a signage campaign and really tough fines.
KEEP MUSKOKA BEAUTIFUL!
How about some signs as a deterrent?
$250 is the starting cost for any littering back in my home town. That also includes cigarette butts.
$1,500 is the fine for illegal dumping.
Just need a couple of reminders to help change their ways
