Update, Feb. 24, 2022 9:30 a.m.:

The Significant Weather Event for the Town of Huntsville has ended. The declaration was made on Tuesday February 22, 2022 as a result of freezing rain and deteriorating road and sidewalk conditions. The standard maintenance level of service for operations will resume as scheduled.

Residents and visitors are asked to continue to use caution on roads and sidewalks for ice build up may still be present. Public Works will continue to monitor conditions and address as needed.

Due to weather conditions, both the District of Muskoka and the Town of Huntsville have declared a significant weather event for Huntsville.

District of Muskoka

As a result of freezing rain and icy road conditions, residents are advised a significant weather event has been declared for all District of Muskoka roads within the Town of Huntsville and the Township of Georgian Bay.

During a significant weather event, members of the public should note that extreme caution will be exercised by crews and standard maintenance levels of service may be reduced or take longer than normal due to weather conditions until such time as normal operations can continue.

District roads within other area municipalities are not currently subject to this significant weather event declaration and crews will continue full winter operations for the remainder of today and into this evening.  Motorists are advised that these roads are also subject to changing conditions based on weather and should exercise caution before deciding to travel.

Residents and visitors are asked to use caution when travelling and only travel if necessary on all municipal roadways.
