Bob lived life on his own terms; spending time with family was his highest priority. He also enjoyed playing pool and shuffleboard at the Legion, the occasional golf game with his buddies, and getting together with friends over a beer or three. Bob took on a variety of roles within the Legion, consistently working towards the best interests of the members. His sense of humour was always in evidence, and if you stopped in for a visit you would be welcomed with a smile, a beer (if you liked Export!) and always the possibility of a mini chocolate bar. Bob fought the good fight over the last 2 years, and the family would like to recognize the wonderful care he received from Dr. Greg Stewart, Dr. Jennifer MacMillan, and the Home Care nurses – in particular Heather, Tonya, and Sarah, who have all become honorary members of our family.

In Loving Memory of Mr. Edmund Pimentel
Edmund was born the youngest of seven boys on August 12, 1947 in the village of Pilar, Bretanha in the Açores of Portugal. His family made the journey to Canada in 1963 and settled in the west end of Toronto. His outgoing nature and love of music naturally brought together a close knit community of friends and family. Within this community he met his future wife and best friend Carmen. Soon after their marriage in 1972, they moved out of the city limits to Bramalea and began to raise a family. Edmund and Carmen along with their three daughters Jennifer, Valerie and Stephanie stayed in their home on Mancroft for over three decades. All the while “Eddie,” as he was affectionately known, would work long days in the printing business (for many years at Stanley Manufacturing and would go on to start his own business PSI Graphics) but saved nights and weekends for playing and performing in his band – Boa Esperança. As the girls grew up, Eddie began to feel the pull northward to cottage country. He found a waterfront lot in Mckellar where he brought his family up for entire summers and any free weekends to enjoy the quiet outdoors. He eventually built the family cottage that became the heart of the extended family where reunions, parties and weddings would play host. Anyone lucky enough to attend one of the many gatherings held at the cottage knew they were in for a joyful time of great food, plenty of laughs and the always memorable campfire sing-a-long with Eddie’s acoustic guitar at the center of it all.
In the fall of 2015, Eddie and Carmen moved to Huntsville to be closer to family. Jennifer and her husband Jonathan had made Huntsville home in 2007, followed by Valerie and her husband Greg in 2010. In 2011 Valerie and Greg welcomed their daughter Leila into the world followed by their son Nathan in 2013. Eddie “Avô” and Carmen “Avó” were delighted with the idea of being grandparents and the chance to play a role in their upbringing.
Edmund is survived by his beloved wife Carmen, three daughters Jennifer (Jonathan), Valerie (Greg) and Stephanie and adoring grandchildren Leila and Nathan. Brother Peter (Olga) Pimentel, sister-in-law Gloria (Manuel). Predeceased by father Joao and mother Violante, brothers Manuel (Gloria), John, Joe (Arminda), Edmundo and Pedro.

Remembered by sister-in-law Violet Green.
As we reminisce, we remember Mom/Grandma enjoying watching the Hamilton Tiger-cats while eating spoonfuls of peanut butter, star-gazing, her sweet-tooth, her love of animals and birds (especially seagulls and owls), and her being mesmerized admiring family’s jewellery as they visited with her. During her days at Muskoka Shores in Gravenhurst she would love to be taken to Gull Lake Park. While there having picnics she shared most of her food with the seagulls.
Mom didn’t venture out often and loved watching travel shows and would say “I have travelled the world from my lazy boy”. As you travel in Heaven, may we remember:

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunset on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the sweet uplifting rush,
Of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die.

Cremation has taken place and a private, family gathering will be held at a later date.
If considering a donation, The Alzheimer Society or The Ontario SPCA would be appreciated.
We wish to thank all Mom’s caregivers over the years and especially thank those special ones from Muskoka Shores.

WEST, Edwin Andrew

April 26, 1930 to January 28, 2017
Edwin passed peacefully in his sleep at The Pines Nursing Home, Bracebridge on Saturday, January 28, 2017, with his son and granddaughter by his side. A Celebration of Life will be held at Tally Ho Inn, 2222 Highway 60, Huntsville on Sunday February 5 at 2pm with refreshments to follow, all are welcome.
Loving father to Andrew (Catherine) and (predeceased) Patti Colquette (Doug). Grandfather to Ashley and Drew (Cassandra) and great grandfather to their children Jorja and Avery. Brother to Chuck, Ray and (predeceased) Olive.
Edwin was a quiet man who devoted his life to his family, his resort, Tally Ho Inn, and to his community, Lake of Bays, with 38 years of dedicated service to the fire department as well as two terms on council and many years on the hospital board of directors. He was always ready to have a coffee and chat with his friends and staff at the lodge and never let an opportunity to share a joke or funny story pass him by.
In his later years he would spend much of his time with the staff at Tally Ho, who were like family to him, or in his tractor working on the roads. His true favorite was working in his vegetable garden pulling weeds and sampling its yield as he worked, a tradition he carried on at his new home at The Pines, often going out to the courtyard in the morning and having a snack on the vegetables that grew there. His last 16 months were filled with happiness at The Pines where he went on outings, attended talks and concerts held there, venturing out in his wheel chair or chatting with the staff.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Pines, District of Muskoka in Bracebridge or the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
His family wishes to extend their thanks to new owners of Tally Ho Inn, The Dryden’s, for the use of the lodge Edwin loved so much for the celebration of life and to all the staff at The Pines for the great care they took of Edwin, the true happiness they gave him and the kindness with which they treated him and his family.

Jack HatkoskiHATKOSKI, Richard Jack
In conjunction with the last class bell, R. Jack Hatkoski passed away on November 30th, 2016 in the comfort of his Dwight home surrounded by his loving family. Once the seriousness of his abdominal cancer was considered, he made the brave decision to forego further treatments and to divert those resources to those that truly needed them. His three week battle was brief, heroic and honourable.
At just over 82 years of age, Jack had a full life that wasted little time. Born in St. Catharines, he moved with his family to Dwight while in High School. Upon graduation from the University of Toronto in 1956, with a degree in Forestry, he worked in his field for a short period of time before entering Teachers’ College. Upon graduation, he began teaching at Parry Sound High School and spent the majority of his career at Huntsville High School before retiring in 1989. He was an avid private pilot, Ontario Land Surveyor, traveler, outdoorsman and village elder who skied and snowmobiled in his spare time.
Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jacquie Hatkoski, brother Jim Hatkoski, son Richard (and Judy) Hatkoski, daughter Janice (and Paul) Fulton. Pride of his life were his granddaughters Taylor Hatkoski, Dana Fulton and Sophia Hatkoski.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Stewart Memorial Church, Dwight, on June 17th at 12:00 p.m. with a lunch reception to follow at the Dwight Senior’s Centre. All are welcome to attend his celebration and we encourage everyone to perhaps pass on a few of Jack’s more famous quotes, sayings or personal stories. He was never shy to share his option. Arrangements entrusted to Billingsley Funeral Home.

Ches FultonFULTON, Chesley “Ches” Emmerson
Ches Fulton passed away peacefully at Hospice Niagara on Friday October 28, 2016, surrounded by loving family and friends, after a short battle with cancer. Everyone who knew Ches will remember him dearly for his smile, charm, and charismatic personality. Even during his last days at hospice, his bright smile could still light up the room.
Ches will be greatly missed by his devoted and loving wife Alice Elizabeth (Betty) of 66 years, their five children – Clyde (Judith), Larry (Donna), Brian (Lisa), Donna (Brian) and Scott (Cindy) and their chosen Bequian/Canadian son Amos Hanson (wife Alice, children Nathan and Nyah). Also mourning his passing will be grandchildren Lisa (Ryan), David, Craig, Kim, Trish (Shane), Allison (Marc), Michael (Laura), Stephen (Chelsea), chosen Bequian granddaughter Gaynor Kydd and three great grandchildren – Ethan, Alexa and Lucas. Ches is also survived by brothers Charles (Laura) and Sheldon (Marjorie) and sister-in-law Mary Fulton. He was predeceased by brother Ercil and sisters Vivian, Janice, Jean, and Verbena.
Ches was born on Portapique Mtn., Nova Scotia on Sept. 5, 1926 to Winfred & Pansy Fulton. He joined the army shortly before the end of the WW II, and having trained in CFB Petawawa, found that life looked much brighter in Ontario. Upon discharge, he moved to St. Catharines to live with his sister Jean, and soon met Betty Hunter, who he married on August 26, 1950. They were subsequently blessed with five children. After working at English Electric and then Penzer Products, Ches started his own successful business (Fulton Manufacturing Ltd.) in 1969. Upon retirement in 1993, Ches and Betty sold the business to their son Larry, allowing Ches and Betty to move to Huntsville, the place where they had honeymooned. The lovely rolling countryside of Muskoka reminded Ches of his home province, Nova Scotia. During their 23 years in Huntsville, Ches and Betty became great friends with Ken and Karen Hewitt (their Huntsville family), and many other close friends within the community and at All Saints’ Church, Parish of the Good Shepherd. Ches enjoyed curling, golfing, church and his morning coffee with his buddies at McDonald’s.
When Ches received his diagnosis of bladder cancer in early 2016, he and Betty decided to move back to St. Catharines to be closer to family, who assisted them during this very difficult period.
We are extremely grateful to his palliative care nurses Judy, Darlene and Charlene; to the entire staff at Hospice Niagara who provided wonderful, attentive care; and to the many friends and family who were always by his side throughout his seven-month battle with cancer.
The family will receive friends at Hulse & English Funeral Home, 75 Church St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, November 2 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
