This road and parking area should be closed permanently. This is not a park, and try driving in it some times. If there is a vision or thought toward what “we” want in this town, is this it? Just a suggestion: walking, green grass, trees, bushes, benches, picnic tables, pedestrian safe space, waterfront. Why money is being spent on “improving” this as a roadway is head-shaking to me.

Dear Mr. Dronseika, I agree with you that Dara should be memorialized in some fashion. Perhaps though, considering her humility, an historical plaque (with or without a bas relief likeness of her profile included) would be more appropriate.

Also, I noted the absence of curb and gutter in the reconstruction description. Surely the youngsters who frequent the Park will not be forced to navigate a ditch; although a shallow ditch with subdrains would still be tenable.

  3. I still think the town should erect a statue of Dara. C’mon, folks, think it through. How many towns in all of Canada, can say they have a spirit like Dara living here? How many seeing that statue years from now will not say….. “Hey is this where she came from—WOW?”

Sorry to make this about the town (Us) rather than you, Dara, but I think you’re a big enough spirit to overlook that. You’ve given a lot to this town, it would be rude of us not to accept and build on your gift.
