This garbage and recycling was missed during regularly scheduled collection last week. It was an issue experienced by many local residents.

Curbside collection cancelled for Feb. 13

All curbside collection is cancelled today due to road conditions. Please bring your material in from the curb and hold it until your next collection day. Or you can take your material to a transfer station. Visit the Drop-off Locations and Hours page for operating hours.

Residents with cancelled collection, that were scheduled for bi-weekly garbage, have two options for managing their garbage:

  1. Hold until your next scheduled garbage collection day. You will be allowed to put out double your limit to reflect the missed collection (four garbage bags); or
  2. Take your garbage for drop-off at the Rosewarne Transfer (or Beiers Transfer Station once open) when safe to do so.

Residents with cancelled collection, that were not scheduled for bi-weekly garbage, are to manage their waste as follows:

  1. Place your material (garbage, recycling and green bin) for set-out as usual.

Businesses with cancelled collection as part of the Downtown Business Collection Area routes are to manage their waste as follows:

  1. Place out additional tagged garbage bags (maximum 10). As a reminder, only tagged garbage bags will be collected.
  2. Place out additional recycling. The recycling limits will be doubled (eight blue boxes) to reflect the missed collection.

If you are experiencing missed collection, please contact GFL for garbage, green bin, or recycling issues at 1-855-344-2439 or [email protected]. Or fill out the Missed Collection Form.
Confirm your collection schedule here.

Why do I have to access Doppler for news of roadside cancellation?
I subscribe to their text messaging service which sends out notices. Nothing received.
What takes hours past the set out time of 7am to find out pickup has been cancelled?
Perhaps they have no one that is authorized/capable to make looking ahead decisions on time?
