Wayback Wednesday, sponsored by Jamie Lockwood, broker/owner of Sutton Group Muskoka Realty!

Anthony Carrera shared this photo with us, date unknown. He is a young man living in Ottawa. After going through some old family photos, he discovered that his great-grandfather owned a variety store in Huntsville. He thought he’d share the photo and ask if anyone had any more information about it.

Do you have interesting photos to share of days gone by? We’d love to see them! Email: [email protected]

I was pretty young but my mom shopped there in about 1957 or so. I think they might have been friends with the manillas and came with the scicilians that worked here in the tannery. But i could be wrong.

It was a store in West end almost across from the old catholic church. We lived beside it when I was a child.
What a great surprise to see this photo!
Angus Carrera was my best friend and buddy for all of our years at Huntsville High.
My family and I lived directly across the street from Carrera’s home and store.
Angus was “Gus” to me and his close friends but his birth namewas Augustine… which his mother called him, especially when he was in trouble!
I would really enjoy speaking to you and to tell you some stories about Angus and our adventures. You can reach me at 706-789-2892
Looks like I remember being Glennies store on West Road used to be one of the places in town where you could get meat cut up (both wild, venison or moose…or home raised beef)
looks like main st, w. over looking hunters bay.
It can’t be that old as has a flat roof (and with the snow in this area?). As well, looks like hydro wires too. Don’t know where it could be though.
