In July of 2018 local builder Edgewood Homes came into the public eye with their proposed Legacy Lane development nestled into the hill behind the Chartwell building in Huntsville. Inspired by the rolling landscape the location seemed ideal for a transitional living community which soon became known as High Crest.

As with many new developments, public opinion was actively sought through two previous public meetings in 2018, and feedback generated. It soon became clear that the primary concern with High Crest was the increased traffic flow from Legacy Lane to Centre street. Already a terribly busy intersection, shared by established homes, there were questions regarding what the impact to traffic flow would be.

Aiming to address the need for safe age respectful developments, David Goodfellow the owner of Edgewood Homes purchased an adjoining property and rearranged the site plan to provide a much safer and easier access to High Crest than would be available in the original plan. With the revised site plan in hand Edgewood Homes specifically sought feedback from representatives at neighbouring community Serenity. These consultations proved very positive, with all parties pleased with what is viewed as a significant improvement with the new access to High Crest via Hanes Rd.

There will be a public meeting to discuss the proposed access to High Crest from Hanes Rd. This meeting is anticipated mid-August 2020 and is intended to review the revisions to the originally approved plan. We at Edgewood expect it to validate our informal findings that our revised entrance
provides an effective solution to all the traffic flow concerns.

Although there have been delays from our originally anticipated timeframe, Edgewood Homes feels confident that the time has been well spent, allowing us to fix elements of concern, ultimately creating a unique and well thought out community. 2020 has proven to be a very busy year for us at Edgewood, with 95 per cent owner occupancy for our most recent community Maple Ridge. Full of successes and lessons, the completion of Maple Ridge solidifies Edgewood’s place amongst quality community builders in Muskoka. Keeping with the quality and core aesthetic of Maple Ridge, Edgewood Homes will add additional features to the High Crest community that will make it special. Incorporating full basements, visitor parking, and a community use facility, these bungalow townhomes will be highly sought after.

July will see us shifting our focus to setting up our Sales office at High Crest, and formalizing all of the details our buyers will need to know. Aiming to open our office on Hanes Rd in the coming months, we’ll be preparing to offer sales starting this Fall.
