I was on the Toronto subway a few days ago and a woman was carrying that familiar red bag
Excellent!
Thank you Geordie for the informative glimpses of local neighbors and friends.
As avid life long readers I know the next time my wife are looking to do a day trip, Parry Sound it is.
I’ll look forward to additional interesting profiles
Thank you Geordie and thank you Doppler for this wonderful featured “Sketches”. It is extremely well done!
Looking forward to the next one!
Hi Geordie,
I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful short doc on one of my favourite places.. I’ve loved that bookstore for years and I make the hour-and-a-half drive in the summer almost weekly. Until now, I had never heard the full back-story behind it. Learning about its origins, its 500,000 used books, and the people who built and stewarded it over time added so much depth to something I already cherished.
You honoured not only the store itself, but also its current owner and the original owners, John and Bonnie Beaucage of Wasauksing First Nation, in such a thoughtful and admiring way. Your film really captured what makes the place magical: the people, the history, and the devotion of readers who come from near and really, really far away.
Thank you for giving this literary landmark more of the recognition it deserves and for giving those of us who love it even more reason to appreciate it.
Wonderful video Geordie. Thanks for highlighting these local Muskoka gems.I can’t wait to check out the Bearly used book store in Parry Sound and to get myself a red bag!
