Award-winning Canadian author Terry Fallis to give a talk at Sutherland Hall

On June 8, Huntsville Public Library is pleased to present award-winning author Terry Fallis at Sutherland Hall. Mr. Fallis will be giving a brief talk titled Tracing the Roots of a Feminist and a Novel that follows fictional character Everett Kane as his online blog unexpectedly goes viral.

Tickets can be purchased for $15 at the Huntsville Public Library and include a copy of Fallis’s book Poles Apart which will be given out at the event. Doors will open to Sutherland Hall at 6:30 PM and the talk will begin at 7:00 PM.

Terry Fallis is the award-winning author of five national best-sellers, including his most recent, Poles Apart, all published by McClelland & Stewart (M&S). His debut novel, The Best Laid Plans, won the 2008 Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour and was crowned the 2011 winner of CBC Canada Reads as the “essential Canadian novel of the decade.“ In January 2014, CBC aired a six-part television miniseries based on The Best Laid Plans which earned very positive reviews.

Mr. Fallis earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McMaster University (1983) where he became engulfed in university politics and somehow persuaded the undergraduates to elect him President of the Students Union. After graduation, he turned his back on engineering and joined future Prime Minister Jean Chretien’s full time staff for the 1984 federal Liberal Leadership campaign.

“Terry Fallis writes just about the tidiest romantic comedic novels you can find on Earth, let alone in Canada.” ~The Globe and Mail
