Artist makes room for more with basement art sale

A local artist is opening his home for a one-of-a-kind bargain basement art sale.

Jason (JF) Kuehnen is an abstract artist who was profiled by Huntsville Doppler back in September. He received a lot of positive feedback from the article and figured now would be a good time to sell some of his paintings to make room for more. Small storage space downstairs has been housing more than 200 pieces of his art.

“Basically, I’m creating some new space for new pieces,” he says, and adds that quite a few people were asking him when he was going to have an art show. “Out with the old and in with the new.”

All of the paintings have been done by Kuehnen in the last five years. Canvas sizes range from 8×10 to 48×72 and everything in between.

Kuehnen’s sale will feature some of canvasses from his past shows Quill and Prequel.

He has already sold nine pieces from a Facebook page he has advertising the event.

The sale, which will be held at his 65 West Street South home, runs on Nov. 20 from 7 to 10 p.m. and on Nov. 21 from 12 to 8 p.m. It will give people an opportunity to check out Kuehnen’s unique studio where he spends countless hours creating abstract canvasses.
