The Arrowhead Nordic Ski Team had a very successful weekend at the Ontario Midget Kawartha Nordic Championships on March 3-5, 2017. One amazing highlight from the weekend was that the club placed third overall with only 12 skiers entered in the championships – way to go Arrowhead Nordic! The team also received a medal in each category except for the Midget Boys. On the Sunday, Arrowhead’s Pee Wee Girls swept the podium in the Classic Technique Mass Start 3 km.

The Midget Championships was a three-day event that offered young skiers of all ages from across the province the chance to see what cross country ski racing is all about. This year’s event featured an exciting head-to-head ski cross event under the lights which took place on the Friday night.

The objectives of this event were to provide a fun, social, and competitive provincial championship for all pee-wee and midget age Nordic skiers and to encourage achievement through team effort along with a good ski technique.

Athletes raced Friday, March 3rd in the evening in the Head to Head Freestyle Ski Cross. Saturday, March 4th saw the athletes participate in the Skate Interval Start Race 3/5 km and Sunday, March 5th was the Classic Technique Mass Start 3/5 km.

Results:
Anna Jaklova earned three 1st place finishes and received two gold medals and one wooden medal gold for ski cross
