This great photo of the lock in Magnetawan was posted by Andrew Hind of the Facebook group Almaguin Highlands Vintage Photography.
Hind is the author of several historical books. The photo depicts the Steamship Armour, which was built in Burk’s Falls and is the largest steamship that ever plied the waters of the Magnetawan River, seen here passing through the locks at Magnetawan.
Hind writes about the somewhat troubled history of the vessel in his book Founded on Stone 2: More Tales of Early Parry Sound District.
