Get involved in your local hospital by applying to join the skills-based, community-oriented team of volunteer directors at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) as a board member or community member of a standing board committee.
Previous experience on boards with similar scope and challenges would be an asset.
Applicants for either position must meet eligibility requirements, reside, be employed or be listed on a municipal voters’ list or tax roll in the Muskoka or East Parry Sound geographic area, and be 18 years of age or older. A police criminal record check is also required.
In addition to attending monthly board meetings, board directors must be able to devote at least 20 hours per month for meeting preparation, committee work, and other events for up to a three-year appointment.
Applications are also being accepted for community members of standing board committees, such as Audit, Governance, or Quality & Patient Safety. Applicants must attend and vote at the standing committee meetings and provide a time commitment of approximately three to five hours monthly for a one-year appointment.
The application deadline for both a board member and community member is Monday, August 15, 2016 at 4 p.m. Apply online today by visiting the MAHC website. Only those applicants chosen to be interviewed will be contacted.

I applied for a position as a Community member for standing committees at MAHC when they last advertised. I got the required criminal records check, answered their required questions, attended an interview with members of the board and as of now (approximately 2 months later) have not had the common courtesy of an official rejection of my application. If this is the way such applications are handled it is small wonder that local people feel that MAHC is a closed shop and advertising for applicants is strictly window dressing.
