The Town of Huntsville invites you to the third annual Apple Picking Festival, a community apple harvest taking place on Thursday, August 25 from 10am to 3pm at Orchard Park.

Located at the west end of Hunters Bay Trail at 3 East Airport Road in Huntsville, Orchard Park is a public apple orchard maintained by a group of local residents.

The Apple Picking Festival is an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate nature’s bounty and to say thank you to the volunteers who take care of the orchard.

“We are grateful to Huntsville-area residents for the care they take to maintain this public apple orchard,” said Colleen MacDonald, manager of Parks & Cemeteries for the Town of Huntsville. “Apples are nutritious, delicious, environmentally sustainable, and very, very versatile.”

Apples can be eaten right off the tree. They can be stored for months. They can be baked, dried, made into sauce, jam, butter, chutney and more. They can also be shared with friends and family or may be accepted as a donation to local food banks. Please contact your local food bank directly to make arrangements.

Show the kids where apples really come from. Come spend some quality time picking apples together at this free community event. *Don’t forget to bring a basket for each participant.

This event will take place rain or shine. We look forward to seeing you there!
