YWCA SUMMER DAY CAMPS RETURN: REGISTRATION BEGINS APRIL 4TH

Spring is here, which means summer and summer camp is just around the corner! YWCA Muskoka offers engaging and energizing summer day programs for girls aged 9 to 16 in two Muskoka locations.

YWCA GIRLZ UNPLUGGED SUMMER is a unique opportunity for girls to make new friends, discover their inner beauty and wisdom, learn how to nurture their community and have fun at the same time. Activities include creative writing, music, drama, art and crafts and plenty of outdoor time. Each group is limited to 20 participants.

YWCA Muskoka offers two weeks of Girlz Unplugged Summer for girls aged 9 to 11 this year: July 18 – 22 in Huntsville and July 25 – 29 in Bracebridge.

Now in its 5th year, Girlspace Leadership camp is designed specifically for ages 12 to 16. These young women will be given opportunities to share their talents and skills with the community. They are eager to make a difference and learn about ways to engage in social action and issues important to them.

Girlspace also offers participants additional training and an opportunity to be a volunteer peer mentor for a day in the Girlz Unplugged Summer programs. Girlspace 5-day programs will be in Bracebridge July 4 to 8 and in Huntsville July 11 to 15.

Summer Camp Coordinator, Marcy Hill, is creating this year’s camp around the theme of ‘Living Your Life Intentionally’. “This camp is about helping young women realize their life is made up of choices. It will help them define their purpose, discover their superpower, while creating their own inner superhero,” explains Marcy Hill.

On-line registration opens April 4th, 2016. Both girls’ programs run daily from 9 to 4 pm with extended hours for drop off and pick up. Healthy snacks are included and Fridays include a pizza lunch. Subsidies are available. To learn more details or to register, visit us online at www.ywcamuskoka.com.
