The 23rd Muskoka Kids’ Tri brought smiles to more than just the young athletes who participated. For the first time, the event raised funds – $1,203 in total – for YWCA Muskoka’s Girlz Unplugged program which has helped more than 2,000 girls develop self-esteem and confidence.
Open to kids and kids at heart, ages six and up, the popular swim-bike-run event offers a fun challenge in a friendly setting at Port Sydney Beach. There are just 350 spots available, at least 300 of which are reserved for kids. The other 50 are available for adults who want to try a tri – many of those who do have children competing, too.
Distances vary from the youngest athletes completing a 50m swim, 3.2km bike ride and 700m run to those 15 and older finishing a 400m swim, 12.4km bike ride and 3.2km run.
