William Scott Caines

William Scott Caines, known to most as Scott, passed away at home in the early morning of Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, after a battle with lung cancer. True to his wishes and in keeping with the way he lived, he passed at home on his own terms.

Scott was a talented carpenter and handyman who left his mark on Muskoka shorelines building and renovating countless homes and cottages in the area. He cared deeply about his craft, doing things the right way, and approached every project with skill and steady hands.

Outside of work, Scott enjoyed fishing, golfing, music, and spending time with friends over a game of cards, darts, or horseshoes. Those closest to him will remember his quick wit, firm opinions, and predictably stubborn nature, as well as the quiet kindness he showed in his own way.

He is survived by his partner, Vicki, his sons, Maisan and Jake, his three grandchildren, Jovie, Jonah, and Jordan, and his four siblings, Wendy, Kieth, Paul, and Dean. He will be missed by all who cared for him.

We are deeply grateful to the doctors and nurses at the RVH Cancer Centre and to everyone else who supported Scott during this time.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Gravenhurst Centennial Centre’s Terry Fox Auditorium on Saturday, December 13 from 1-4pm.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to Cottage Country Cremation Inc., 55 Ann Street, Bracebridge, ON.
