As the snow is finally disappearing and the yard clean-up is well under way, the Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to remind everyone to pay attention to what is at the end of their rakes.
The Huntsville OPP has had complaints of items that are less desirable in our yards including needles and other paraphernalia. This is a good time to remember to not immediately pick the items up, but to take the time, use pliers and place items in an empty container and dispose of it accordingly. If needles are located, there are drop off locations throughout the town that will allow the public to safely dispose of the items.
For more information on safe disposal, visit www.simcoemuskokahealth.org/ or contact your local pharmacy. Remember, improper disposal of syringes and other sharps can pose a health hazard to both the community and sanitation workers.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can submit your information online at www.p3tips.com or if you have any information on this crime or any other crime. Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display and you will remain anonymous. Being anonymous, you will not testify in court and your information may lead to a cash reward of up to $2,000.00. You can follow Crime Stoppers of Simcoe Dufferin Muskoka on Twitter or Facebook.
