Two years later, the search for Jesse Deschamps’ killer continues

Sunday, July 27, 2025, marked the second anniversary of the murder of 30-year-old Jesse DESCHAMPS. Investigators have never stopped the search for those responsible and seek the public’s assistance to bring resolution to Jesse’s family.

On Thursday, July 27, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency services responded to reports of gunshots and an injured person in the rear parking lot of a shopping centre on Poyntz Street in Penetanguishene. Jesse DESCHAMPS was transported by the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

An OPP forensic artist has created the composite sketch (below) to help identify an individual police are looking to speak with.

The investigation into the murder of Jesse DESCHAMPS remains active under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
