At its Aug. 12 meeting, Lake of Bays Council approved the disposition of another two properties, an estimated eight acres on Langford Road and an estimated 7 acres on Nithgrove Road.
The Township’s realtor of record is recommending that properties be sold for $220,500 each.
In June, council approved the disposition of two properties on Bigwin Island. One was assessed at $821,000, and the other was assessed at $336,000.
According to Carrie Sykes, Lake of Bays Director of Corporate Services, the funds from the sale of the properties will be put into a reserve.
“The revenue from the sale of Township properties will be reinvested back into the community. Proceeds will be placed in reserves but not used for daily operations. Council will decide how to allocate these funds to current and future projects that benefit residents, such as the Baysville Revitalization on Hwy 117 and the Community Hub in Dwight,” stated Sykes.
“The particular lots in question are not connected to water and sewer services. The absence of essential utilities makes them less practical for affordable housing development. Suitable lots for affordable housing have already been selected within the Township,” she added.
