Town of Huntsville issues cancellation notice due to tornado watch

From the Town of Huntsville

Residents are advised that Environment Canada has issued a Tornado Watch, warning of severe thunderstorms, which includes risk of high winds (up to 110km/hr.) and tornadoes, in areas from the northern Golden Horseshoe, parts of central Ontario, to Algonquin and Pembroke, including Huntsville and the surrounding region. The time of highest risk is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today (Thursday, June 13).

Residents are strongly advised to prepare in advance of any extreme weather forecasted and to have supplies for 72 hours in the case of a power outage. Please go to Ontario.ca for more information on emergency preparedness from the Government of Ontario.

Residents are encouraged to follow Environment Canada and local media outlets for weather updates.

Cancellations

  • To exercise caution, the Mayor’s Bike Ride, which was supposed to take place this evening, is being rescheduled to Tuesday, June 18, due to forecasted severe thunderstorms.
  • Muskoka Heritage Place Pioneer Village and Portage Flyer Train are closed for the day due to weather; however, the museum at the admissions office remains open.
