We sadly announce the passing of Timothy Roy Harpell on November 7, 2024, in Huntsville, Ontario, at age 83. Tim leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Barbara (Carr-Harris) Harpell; sons David (Ge), Eric (Heather), Michael (Crystal), and Greg (Lisa); and grandsons Thomas, Ethan, Trevor, Craig, John, and Peter.
Tim lived a life dedicated to family and service. His passion for helping others began with the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, and Fort Henry Guard. A graduate of the Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology (EOIT) and Queen’s University (Electrical Engineering ’69), he worked at Measurement Engineering Ltd., taught at Sir Sanford Fleming College, then transitioned to business at Searle’s (Siemens) Instrumentation Division before founding his own company. Tim pioneered the introduction of nuclear medicine diagnostics in Canada, building a 30+ year career known for integrity and strong industry relationships.
An adventurous spirit, Tim enjoyed skiing, sailing, and flying. He earned his private pilot licence and was the first Canadian to take delivery of a new design of composite aircraft, eventually flying it across Canada and northern Canada with his son Eric. Tim will be remembered as an accomplished, fun-loving husband, father, and grandfather who lived life honourably and fully. His generosity, adventurous nature, and commitment to family left an indelible mark on all who knew him. We celebrate Tim’s life on August 24th, 2:00-4:00pm at 384 Watson Ave, Oakville, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Shelter, Huntsville’s The Table Food Bank, or Muskoka Women’s Shelter and Services.
