cheryl bear mayors breakfast

This year’s Mayors of Muskoka Prayer Breakfast is featuring Dr. Cheryl Bear

Healing the wounds of the past …

Dr. Cheryl Bear, of the Nadleh Whut’en First Nation in Central BC, will be the guest speaker at the Mayors of Muskoka Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, April 21 at the Mark O’Meara Grandview Golf Club. Award-winning singer, songwriter and Associate Professor at Regent College, Cheryl will share her perspective as a respected voice on behalf of Canada’s Indigenous peoples, and as a Christian.

Cheryl has traveled to over 600 Indigenous communities in Canada and the United States, sharing her songs and stories. She also visits non-Native communities (schools, churches, and businesses), holding workshops to raise awareness and understanding of Indigenous issues.

Soft spoken and honest, Cheryl does not mince words: “The Gospel was never given to our Native people as a gift as it was supposed to be given, instead it was used as a weapon of assimilation against our people.” Cheryl Bear – “Be Fearless”

Now celebrating its 16th year, the Mayors of Muskoka Prayer Breakfast is sponsored by the Muskoka Leader Impact Group. The event is focused on thanking and praying for our local municipal leaders who give tirelessly to serve our communities.

Cost of the breakfast is $30 and there are a few tickets left. Click the link to select your seat. Muskoka Prayer Breakfast Tickets

I am looking forward to hearing Dr. Bear’s perspective. What an appropriate topic in this time of “Truth and Reconciliation”.
