The MUSAC swim team participated in two post-season meets concurrently to add to another successful swim season.
Swim Ontario Summer Festival Championships
The Swim Ontario Summer Festival Championships were held in Markham on June 24-25, 2017.
On June 24, the team had tremendous results:
Daniel Ortiz won a Silver in the 200m Freestyle and earned a best time. He took 6th place in the 50m Freestyle.
Branwyn Shaw had her best time, a club record, and placed 5th in the 100m Backstroke. In the 800m Freestyle, she received the Bronze medal along with another best time and 6th in the 400m IM.
Ethan Thomas had his best times in the 800m Freestyle and 400m IM he placed 14th.
Ian Markham also had his best time in the 800m Freestyle making the provincial standard and winning the Bronze medal.
Owen Jibb earned three out of three best times, a Bronze medal in the 200m Breaststroke and a new club record. He placed 5th in the 800m Freestyle with another new club record and 6th in the 400m IM.
Ben Guerriero also earned three out of three best times and moved up in the rankings for all of his events.
MUSAC’s Boys 13/14 Medley Relay placed 8th overall.
MUSAC’s Men’s team placed 13th out of 45 teams and the Women’s team placed 18th overall.

On June 25, MUSAC’s Men’s team moved into 16th place. The Boys 4x100m Freestyle Relay placed 6th.
Ian placed 6th in the 400m Freestyle with his best time and an AA Champs qualifying time.
Daniel placed 4th in the 100m Freestyle and 7th in 400m Freestyle with his best time as well.
Ethan swam his best times in the 200m Fly and Backstroke.
Branwyn placed 5th in the 200m Backstroke and 7th in the 400m Freestyle.
Ben had best times in the 400m Freestyle and the 200m Fly moving up four spots in each event.
And for a big finish at the Swim Ontario Summer Festival, Owen took the Gold medal in the 100m Breaststroke with a new club record. He came 5th in the 400m Freestyle and 8th in the 200m IM, both with best times.
2017 Ontario Summer Provincials and AA meet
For their second post-season meet, MUSAC swimmers moved on to the 2017 Ontario Summer Provincials and AA meet from June 29 – July 2 at the Toronto Pan Am Sport Centre in Scarborough.
To get there, they had to achieve required qualifying standards for both the Provincials and the AA meet. Qualifying times for the AA meet were slightly lower than the mark for Provincials.
Ten MUSAC athletes competed in both of the meets at the Toronto Pan Am Centre where the AA meet races took place in the afternoons and the Provincials preliminaries were held in the morning with the finals at night. The MUSAC teammates had a very busy schedule.
Day 1 results from the 2017 Ontario Summer AA Meet for June 29:
Andrew Markham won Gold in the 200m Breaststroke
Branwyn Shaw placed 4th in the 200m Backstroke and qualified for the Eastern Nationals.
Daniel Ortiz won Bronze for the 50m Freestyle.
Ian Markham won the Bronze for the 800m Freestyle.

Day 1 results for the 2017 Ontario Summer Provincials finals for June 29:
Mark Cox won Gold in the 100m Backstroke with a new club record and placed 10th in the 50m Freestyle.
Ally Goldring won Bronze in the 50m Freestyle with an age group qualifying time, a best time, and a club record. She also won Bronze in the 200m Breaststroke.
Owen Jibb had his best time, a club record and placed 4th in the 200m Breaststroke.
Sam Kuntz placed 10th in the 200m Backstroke.

Day 2 results from the 2017 Ontario Summer AA Meet for June 30:
Branwyn had her best time and won a Bronze medal in the 400m IM.
Ethan had his best time and won a Silver in the 400m IM as well as placing 6th in the 100m Fly.
Owen placed 9th in the 200m Freestyle with a best time and placed 8th in the 100m Fly.
Andrew placed 9th also with a best time in the100m Fly.
The Boys 4x100m Freestyle Relay team, comprising Ian, Andrew, Owen and Ethan, placed 4th.

Day 2 results from the 2017 Ontario Summer Provincials finals for June 30:
Mark wins Gold in 400 IM! He was also 4th in 100m fly and earned a Canadian Jr. Champs standard.
Ally came 8th in 400 IM with another big best time.

Day 3 results from the 2017 Ontario Summer AA Meet for July 1:
It’s double gold for MUSAC as Ethan takes the Gold medal in the 200m Fly and a provincial standard, and Andrew also takes the Gold medal for the 100m Breaststroke with his best time.

Day 3 results from the 2017 Ontario Summer Provincial finals for July 1:
Mark placed 6th in the 100m Freestyle and 4th in the 200m Fly with a new club record.
Ally placed 4th in the 100m Breaststroke.
Owen also placed 4th in the 100m Breaststroke and a new club record.
Final results for the AA meet:
Branwyn with her best time and the Silver medal in the 200m Backstroke.
Ian placed 6th in the 200m Backstroke and the Silver medal in the 400m Freestyle.
Andrew with a best time and 4th place in the 200m IM.
2017 Provincial Championships ended with a strong finish for the MUSAC team:
Mitchell Cox had a best time and placed 8th in the 200m Backstroke.
Sam placed 4th in the 200m Backstroke earning his first Senior National standard and a new club record.
Ally won a Silver and made her Canadian Junior Championship time in the 200m IM.
Mark won the Gold in the 200m stroke with a new club record and a 4th place in the 400m Freestyle with a new club record and a Canadian Junior Championship standard.
Outstanding performances by all MUSAC participants. You all should be proud. A specials thanks to Coach Morgan for her dedication to the team.
