Sundridge youth among 11 young people honoured by the province

On April 28, 2025, Ontario honoured 11 young people with the 2023 Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers.

According to the province, this prestigious medal is the province’s highest honour for youth aged 15 to 24 and recognizes their outstanding contributions to their communities and the province through volunteerism.

One of those 11 recipients was Megan Lee from Sundridge.

“Megan Lee’s ability to connect with people from all walks of life as well as her talent for inspiring others to get involved in community service, has enabled her to contribute in many ways to health care, schools, and youth sports. In 2019, to honour her late figure skating coach, she founded the Judy Coalter Memorial Scholarship Fund, enabling full-season registration for deserving skaters. She shared her skills with the North Bay Regional Health Centre, the West Parry Sound Health Centre, and helped coach at the South River Figure Skating Club. Currently completing her third year of the Honours Health Sciences program at McMaster University, Megan continues her contributions at McMaster’s Children’s Hospital and McMaster Students Union,” states a release from the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism.
