The agendas for tonight’s council meetings are packed. Starting at 5:30, Huntsville Council convenes a special council meeting to receive the Visioning Summary from the consultants carrying out the official plan review.
Then at 7 pm the regular council meeting gets underway.
Council will hear an update from the Hospital Retention Working Group members Rob Alexander and Sven Miglin. The group has been hard at work testing the numbers originally supplied by MAHC, developing a ‘Campus of Care’ model, getting the attention of the local LHIN, and bringing some infrastructure issues concerning access and water and sewer services to the attention of council. Doppler will cover this story more fully following the council meeting.
The Huntsville Curling Club will be making a deputation to council concerning the service costs associated with building a new facility at the McCulley Robertson Sports Complex. Early estimates peg the costs of hydro, sewer, internet and phone, and natural gas hook ups at more than $137,000. The present agreement with the Town would see the curling club pay these costs to develop the site.
In closed session, council will receive a report on a litigation matter involving a former town employee (John Finley appears in Bracebridge court today), an update on the Hunter-Rutland lawsuit, and a report on the potential sale/acquisition of the Chamber building.
Should be a long night!
