Parents and guardians of Muskoka high school students: This meeting is for you

It’s not always easy supporting and advocating for youth through the high school years. There are many challenges parents and students face.

To make that journey a bit easier, a panel discussion will be held for parents and guardians of Muskoka high school students at the Huntsville High School Library on May 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Please note this is for parents and guardians only.

“This is your chance to have direct contact with the people on the street who are helping your kids and keeping them safe,” explained Tracy Peters, the Co-chair of the HHS Parent Council and the host of the panel discussions.

The panel will consist of representatives from the OPP, Public Health, Mind-Aid, and the local branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Peters said there will be a five-minute presentation from the panelists followed by questions from parents and guardians.

“We will also be discussing hot topics of risk, danger, and prevention,” explained Peters. She said parents will gain a better understanding of some of the risks facing students, how to navigate the system, and where to get help.
