Social media dispute escalates into “pit” party punch-up in Bracebridge

A social media feud between two young women turned violent at a Bracebridge party spot, court heard.

Sahara Wood, 19, pleaded guilty in a Bracebridge courtroom to one count of assault following the incident on July 25, 2025.

The court heard that at approximately 11:30 p.m., a fight broke out between two females at a local gathering area known as “the pit.” During the altercation, the victim was punched multiple times in the face, had her hair pulled and was kicked, leaving her with a black eye.

The entire incident was captured on video, which showed the confrontation beginning as a verbal dispute before escalating into physical violence.

Defence lawyer Josh Fagan told the court the conflict began prior to the party, with the two women exchanging increasingly hostile messages on social media. At the gathering, a crowd reportedly surrounded them, recording the incident on their phones and encouraging the fight.

Wood was ultimately handed a conditional discharge and placed on 15 months of probation.
