The Township of Lake of Bays is pleased to announce that the Lake of Bays 2021 Photo Contest is now open!
The top photographs will be awarded prizes in the form of gift cards to be redeemed at a business of their choice in the Township of Lake of Bays. Amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit photos taken around the Township of Lake of Bays from any season, taken anytime.
“Our beautiful Township has over 100 lakes to explore,” said Mayor Terry Glover. “This annual photo contest is a great opportunity for the community to visually share what makes Lake of Bays special to them.”
Photos can be submitted to the following three categories:
- Scenic (share the natural beauty of the Township including landscapes, scenery, and wildlife).
- People and Pets (show us your favourite activity – what do you love to do with your family and friends? Boating, swimming, hiking, fishing, snowshoeing, etc.).
- Celebrate Local (snap a pic of your main street/downtown or people enjoying products and services from local businesses).
Prizes will be awarded to the top three photographs as voted by the public in each of the three categories (Scenic, People and Pets, Celebrate Local). First prize recipients will receive $100, second prize will receive $50, and third prize will receive $25 in the form of a gift card to support a small local business.
The Celebrate Local contest category received the least number of entries last year, so we would like to challenge the public to get creative and show us how you support local businesses. It could be a photo of someone enjoying an ice cream cone in front of a local shop, a patio lunch with your family, a local company working on your car or home, browsing through a garden centre, a sneak peek at a beautiful gift picked up at a local shop or gallery, or an artistic photo of business store fronts in our beautiful downtown communities.
For contest guidelines and to submit a photo entry, please visit mylakeofbays.ca/photocontest2021. All online entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. on December 5, 2021. A staff review will occur from December 6-9 to narrow down a shortlist of finalists, and the public voting period will be open from December 10-19 to determine the top three winning photographs in each category. Winners will be notified the week of December 20, 2021.
