Smart and Caring Muskoka Fund being expanded thanks to support from businesses

Muskoka Community Foundation thanks Fowler, Paul Davis Systems of Muskoka and the Cowan Family Fund for their generous gifts to support Muskoka charities

The Muskoka Community Foundation (MCF) is pleased to announce a second round of granting from the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th and the Smart & Caring Muskoka Fund will open for applications in January 2017 and the amount to be granted by the Foundation will be expanded with the generous support of Fowler, Paul Davis Systems of Muskoka and the Cowan Family Fund at Muskoka Community Foundation.

The gifts by Fowler, Paul Davis Systems of Muskoka and the Cowan Family Fund will enable MCF to award an additional $20,000 in grants to registered charities in Muskoka. “These generous gifts will double the impact from the Smart & Caring Muskoka Fund since MCF can match these donations with funds from the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th,” said Marg French, Chair of MCF. She also expressed MCF’s gratitude for the many contributions that these businesses make within Muskoka.

MCF Program Director Lynn DeCaro said, “We are still working on the exact amount that will be available for granting in the second round, but we hope that it will be substantial.” She recommends that charities check the Muskoka Community Foundation website, Facebook and Twitter feed over the next several weeks for more information about this granting opportunity. “This is an excellent opportunity to apply for funding for a project that will benefit Muskoka so please contact me with your questions and to discuss your ideas.”

Muskoka Community Foundation is proud to partner with the Community Foundation of Canada and the Government of Canada to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation. The Community Fund for Canada’s 150th is a collaborative effort, providing thousands of small grants to local initiatives across the country. The Fund is matched and delivered locally by Canada’s 191 community foundations.

Since it was founded in 2007 the Muskoka Community Foundation has granted over $247,300 to a variety of registered charities throughout Muskoka. You can learn more on the MCF website:
