MEDIA RELEASE
Colours, engines, shiny metal, and live dancing music – the Shades of Autumn Antique, Classic and Custom Car Show is sure to please
If four wheels are your passion, the 14th annual Shades of Autumn Antique, Classic and Custom Car Show is an adventure that will accelerate your heart beat. This is one automotive competition that you can take in on two feet. On Saturday, September 17, Downtown Huntsville BIA will join forces with the Historical Automobile Society of Canada to close Main Street and fill it with 300 show cars. The BIA is thrilled to have The Garage / MBRP back as the show sponsor.
Last year’s event saw downtown Huntsville full of colour with over 300 cars lined along Main Street – and this year is sure not to disappoint. Cars owners drive across Ontario (and even out-of-province) to attend this free event.
Seventeen trophies are up for grabs this year by car show participants. The 2016 awards are sponsored by numerous car dealerships and businesses in downtown Huntsville and the surrounding area. The coveted People’s Choice Award is once again donated by Treasures & Trophies. All visitors downtown are invited to vote for their favourite vehicle between 9 am and 3 pm. People’s choice ballots are available during the show at most downtown retailers. Winners will be announced at 3:30pm.
The event is open to the public from 9 am to 4 pm. Dance in the street as the Swingin’ Black Jacks pour their live music onto the street.
The Charity Bake sale is back to partner with the car show. All non-profit organizations are invited to join our event with a bake sale table for free – but interested non-profits are asked to pre-register by calling the Downtown Huntsville BIA at 705-789-1400. This is an excellent opportunity for all charities to be in the public spotlight and raise some funds for really great causes.
There is no pre-registration for car participants in this event, but cars will be parked on a first come first serve basis beginning at 7:00 am. Notice to all that Main Street will close, from Brunel to Centre, to vehicle traffic at 6:00 am, so it can open for the Antique, Classic, and Custom Car Show. It will not be reopening until after 4:00 pm.
So mark the date Saturday September 17 and come enjoy downtown as the traffic is stopped by classic cars, tuners, hot rods, classic trucks, and so much more.
